Archaeological testing was carried out over the course of two days from 12 July 2023 using a mechanical excavator fitted with a flat grading bucket. The trenches targeted available open green space to fully investigate the archaeological potential of the site. Testing revealed nothing of archaeological significance.
No archaeological features were identified during the course of testing, but it remains possible that small or isolated archaeological features may survive within the site, outside of the footprint of the excavated trenches. Ground disturbances associated with the development have the potential to adversely impact on any such features, therefore, archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping was recommended.
