Monitoring of ground disturbance commenced on site during January 2023 with works continuing intermittently over a period of three months, based on the contractor’s programme. Ground disturbance works revealed several phases of development including layers relating to the reconstruction/refurbishment of the structure located at 21 Richmond Street South, as well as earlier post-medieval garden soils and a stone internal dividing wall associated with the original house structure, likely representing the developments seen between the Ordnance Survey maps of 1844 and 1911. No additional finds or features of archaeological potential were noted during the course of monitoring; consequently, no further mitigation measures are deemed necessary.
