2023:095 - Whitegate, Aghada WWT, Ballynafarsid, Cork

Archaeological monitoring was recommended as a condition of planning for the Whitegate – Aghada Sewerage Scheme. A full archaeological presence was maintained during the removal of topsoil at the waste water treatment site to the north of White Bay; no archaeological finds or strata were identified during the duration of the pre-construction works. An intermittent archaeological presence was also maintained during trenching for the rising main along the road network and at the location of the pumping station sites in Whitegate, Lower Aghada and Rostellan. No features or finds of archaeological significance were exposed during the course of archaeological monitoring.
