As detailed in the initial entry for this licence, an Archaeological Impact Assessment, including desk-based research, a geophysical survey (22R0027) and test trenching, was undertaken at the site of a proposed industrial development at the northern end of the Ballysallagh Business Park in the townland of Ballysallagh, approximately 1.6km south-east of Charleville town centre. The site comprised essentially level pasture fields. The geophysical survey identified nothing of archaeological potential.
The site was to be developed in two parts and, following testing of the eastern area in 2022, the western part was tested under an extension to the same licence in 2023. Thirteen test trenches (numbered 14-26) were excavated and the the eastern part of this western site was found to be heavily disturbed with modern rubble present. Elsewhere topsoil was found to directly overlay the natural subsoil which was a glacial till. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were identified.
