Monitoring took place on 4 December 2023, a bitter cold day with occasional heavy showers. The topsoil was removed using a 1.5m-wide grading bucket.

The topsoil was a dry, light brown loose clay with a moderate density of stone inclusions. It varied in depth across the site but was on average c. 0.3m. Subsoil was a light red loose silty clay with a high density of stones. There was no variation in either topsoil or subsoil across the site. In the centre of the site a modern plastic water pipe was present.

No archaeological features or deposits were noted in the exposed subsoil.
