Five linear test trenches with a combined length of 140m were excavated across a proposed development site. Natural subsoil or bedrock was identified at a depth of between 0.1m and 0.9m below modern surface level. While evidence of landscaping, ground levelling, agricultural activity and land drainage, as well as the foundation of a wall related to a known building, was revealed in some of the excavated trenches, nothing of archaeological significance was encountered during the testing programme. Nothing was encountered relating to a castle (CO150-089001-), which may have been in this general location, as per the Archaeological Survey of Ireland description.
