Archaeological monitoring was undertaken in three areas on a water mains rehabilitation scheme on behalf of Irish Water and in association with Cork County Council. Monitoring encountered nothing of archaeological significance.

The pipe route passed through the Zones of Notification (ZON) for a number of sites: CO023-323001 (mill-corn), CO023-323002 (bridge), CO031-009001 (burial ground) and CO031-009002 (church) and CO031-004 (house-vernacular house). Monitoring of three areas of open pipe trenching did not reveal any archaeological features, deposits or artefacts. Monitoring within the ZoN for monuments CO031-009001 (burial ground) and CO031-009002 (church) observed natural subsoil and bedrock directly underlying the modern road surface. Monitoring within the ZON for CO023-323001 (mill-corn) and CO023-323002 (bridge) noted natural clays at a depth of 0.4m within the pipe trench. Monitoring within ZON of CO031-004 (vernacular house) similarly revealed nothing of archaeological significance.
