Ten linear test trenches, with a combined length of 490m, were excavated in agricultural land in Broomfield West, Co. Cork. The trenches were aligned to target anomalies of limited archaeological potential that had been identified from the results of a geophysical survey.
Natural subsoil was identified at a depth of between 0.15m and 0.35m below modern surface level. While evidence of agricultural activity was revealed in some of the excavated trenches, nothing of archaeological significance was encountered during the testing programme.
