Archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping and peat excavation took place on the
Crossmore windfarm development on various dates between September 2023 and June 2024. Several modern drainage features were recorded in fields which were characterised by land improvement works. A recorded monument, CL058-074 (fulacht fiadh), located adjacent to the road take was cordoned off and no impact occurred. A deposit of fulacht material (ITM 514558, 660656) was preserved in situ on the west side of the new bridge construction.
Excavations for the grid connection were undertaken from March to June 2024 with the erection of poles for the overhead line section completed in 2025. No features and/or finds of archaeological significance was encountered in the course of monitoring.
