Archaeological monitoring was carried out on dates between 1 and 21 August 2023 for mechanical excavation and ground-disturbance works relating to the reinstatement of a culvert and associated ancillary site development works at Lough Donnell, Co. Clare. Prior to commencement of monitoring works, metal detecting was undertaken throughout the site. During the monitoring works, spoil heaps and newly cleared areas were scanned by metal detector. The ground-disturbance works were monitored under archaeological supervision in order to identify any subsurface archaeological objects, features and deposits that may have been present. The metal detecting was undertaken under detection device consent 23R0268. No archaeological objects, features or deposits were noted.
