Archaeological monitoring of groundworks associated with the construction of a solar energy development project located at Blunsheens 1 in the townland of Ballycarran, Co. Wexford, was carried out between May 2021 and February 2022.
For planning purposes, a larger solar energy development was divided into two plots; Blunsheens 1 and Blunsheens 2. The adjacent site Blunsheens 2 was also archaeologically monitored; see separate entry for licence no. 21E0081.
The monitored works at Blunsheens 1 comprised ground investigation trial pits, topsoil removal to facilitate access roads, and cable trenches.
No features, deposits or finds of archaeological interest were noted over the course of the monitoring works.
