Archaeological monitoring took place in advance of the erection of 38 private dwellings at a site in Townparks, Co. Wexford, to the west of the core of the medieval town of Wexford.
Although the proposed development site does not contain any recorded archaeological monuments, it is in a rich archaeological landscape to the west of Wexford town in an area which was once the medieval Liberties and Commons. This area contained at least 17 windmills in the seventeenth century.
The site formerly contained a 1930s house known as Moongate (NIAH ref: 15608004), which was demolished in 2011.
No finds or features of archaeological significance were uncovered during the course of monitoring.
