Excavations took place for a new watermain which was laid on Saint Senan’s Road and Old Church Road in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. Archaeological monitoring was carried out on various dates between 11 November 2021 and 25 January 2022.
Approximately 1km of open-cut watermain comprising 180mm pipe was laid along existing roads in Enniscorthy. The pipe ran along Old Church Road and Saint Senan’s Road and met at the junction of these two streets. Approximately 200m of pipe was laid within the archaeological Zone of Notification for Enniscorthy Historic Town WX020-031 and Templeshannon Church and Graveyard (WX020-031001 and WX020-031009). No finds or features of archaeological significance were exposed.
