A programme of Archaeological Monitoring took place of the foundation pit/trench associated with the erection of a replacement electricity supply pole at Graigue Td (Dorrha Ph), Co. Tipperary.

The subject works were located within a Zone of Archaeological Notification established with respect to a Church (SMR: TN005-00501), Ecclesiastical Enclosure (SMR: TN005-00502) and Graveyard (SMR: TN005-003),

Notification of the works was submitted to the National Monuments Service who recommended that all ground disturbance associated with the works be monitored by an archaeologist and under licence from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The pole foundation trench has surface measurements of approximately 1.8m x 0.48m and a maximum depth of 2.2m; that for the stay measured 0.5m in width and 1.8m in length. In both cases, the topsoil comprised moderately loose and dry light brown sandy, silty clay with moderate pebbles and small cobbles dispersed randomly throughout and inclusions of rootlets; this had a maximum depth of 0.25m. The topsoil lay directly upon the subsoil, comprising dry, moderately stiff, light brown gravelly/sandy clay with moderate medium cobbles dispersed randomly throughout.

Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered by the works.
