Archaeological monitoring of works was carried out in September 2022 in the townland of Knockroe in the area adjacent to Moycarkey National School, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. TN047-043 Ringfort-Rath is within close proximity (c. 44m northwest) to the area of proposed development.
Works were carried out over 3 days and involved the monitoring of 3 separate operations; topsoil stripping across the entirety of the area under development, the excavation of 4 drainage trenches and the excavation of 4 small foundation pits for the construction of floodlighting.
No archaeological finds or features were disturbed or discovered during these works.
