As part of granted planning permission to build a dwelling house and undertake associated site works, it was required that a programme of archaeological testing be undertaken. The requirement for the archaeological works was due to the fact the site is located close to an enclosure (TS059-033). Located c. 60m to the west of the development site, this enclosure comprises a densely overgrown circular area measuring c. 28m x 26m and defined by a bank from its northwest to its east and at southwest, whilst reduced to a scarp elsewhere.
A total of five test trenches were opened on the imprint of the proposed works. Evidence emerged for cultivation furrows whilst within the north-west end of Trench No. 2 traces of small burnt spreads were uncovered. It is likely the burning was agricultural related. No other features/remains were uncovered.
