An archaeological monitoring licence was granted for upgrading the areas between Cashel Town Walls and Cashel Courthouse and OPW Yard, in order to make it publicly accessible. The final phase of this work, which involves creating public access through a wall by widening the current 1.4m opening to a 2m width. It was scheduled to occur in January 2021 but eventually took place between 17 and 19 January 2022.
Ground works achieved average depth of 0.3-0.4m to accommodate resurfacing and landscaping works. Deeper works entailed installation of public lighting with box trench set at 0.9m depth and light stand locations at 1.4m. No archaeology was encountered during the works.
