Dohern Hill (summit 145m OD) is a domed, steep-sided hill located some 4.2km east of Tobercurry and consists of carboniferous limestone, which outcrops close to the surface across the hill. The lower slopes consist of glacially-derived limestone sands and gravels.

It is proposed to construct a trail to the summit, the majority will be along existing farm tracks, but the final 140m to the summit will be across green field. The monitoring of topsoil strip of this 140m long section to the site of the summit enclosure revealed nothing of archaeological interest and no other aspect of the development will involve any significant ground disturbance.
