Archaeological monitoring of the construction groundworks took place on green field lands at Colp West, Co. Meath between 13-28 July 2022. Topsoil was stripped by mechanical excavators using grading buckets under archaeological supervision. No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of monitoring.
Portions of the site have been subject to earlier archaeological investigations in the form of a desktop study, geophysical survey (21R0127), test excavations (19E0627 & 21E0355) and unlicenced archaeological monitoring. Drone photography during the initial assessment identified a crop-mark subsequently designated as ME021-036 Ring-ditch. This Recorded Monument is within the application area but outside of the area proposed for current development.
