Monitoring and test excavations were carried out on a development site at Mill Lane, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The brownfield site overlooks the River Boyne to the west of the Bridge of Peace. It is located close to the original foundation of the Hospital and Priory of St Mary d’Urso, a 13th-century foundation (RMP LH024-041120). A watching brief was maintained over demolition of existing derelict buildings on the site. Thereafter, test excavations were undertaken across the site. Test trenches were excavated through ‘made ground’ and demolition rubble of varying depths (1.6-2.7m). Natural boulder clay was exposed in the north-east corner of the site only. No archaeological material was recorded.
