Archaeological testing was undertaken at the Boyne Mill Complex, in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
The site contains the existing post-medieval Boyne Mill complex constructed in the 1860s. The complex went out of use during the 1970s and has gradually fallen into dereliction and ruin. There are no archaeological sites located within the development area or within 250m of it.
Testing was carried out on 25 May 2022 using a mechanical excavator. A total of 6 trenches were proposed for investigation across the development area measuring 250 linear metres in total. No features of archaeological potential were revealed during the course of the testing, and the site has clearly been subject to a large degree of disturbance.
