Archaeological test trenching was carried out at Richard Taaffes Holding, Louth Village, Dundalk, Co. Louth on 9–10 August 2022.
A total of 11 test trenches were excavated within the site. The trench plan had to be amended slightly due to local ecological conditions and the presence of overhead cables. Each trench measured 1.8m in width, and in total, 495m of linear trenches and were excavated to the top of natural subsoil, which consisted of a light brown sandy clay, gravels and stone. In general, topsoil measured between 0.24-0.61m in depth.
No finds or features of archaeological significance were identified.
