Jana Developments are constructing 53 semi-detached two-storey dwellings as part of residential estate development on the interface between suburban Limerick and the rural hinterland. The nearest known archaeological site, LI013-025, a ringfort, is situated some 200m from the site. Construction and as a consequence archaeological monitoring work occurring in several phases and will continue in 2023. The 2022 tranche of monitoring occurred between 21 February and 16 December. The ground works have entailed foundation excavation within a brown field site. The dimensions of the trenches have varied between 1m and 1.6m wide, and 0.6 to 1.2m in depth. The stratigraphy has consisted of minimal topsoil overlying pale yellow grey glacial till. No archelogy was encountered during this phase of works.
