Test excavations at Summerhill, Portlaoise, Co. Laois took place in August 2022 in response to a condition of planning permission. A total of 12 trenches measuring 920 linear metres (1656 sq. m) were excavated across the site with the aid of a 14-tonne tracked excavator equipped with a 1.8m-wide grading bucket and under constant archaeological supervision. No archaeological sites, features or objects were recorded in the course of the test excavations.
