Subsequent to archaeological and built heritage impact assessment, an archaeological monitoring licence was granted for improvement works within the bounds of Bonnetstown Hall, an 18th-century estate with remains of medieval archaeology. The works were scheduled to commence during 2019 but were deferred to 2020. Phase 2 of the monitoring works was scheduled to occur during 2021. However, due to Covid inhibitions and change of conservation architects and with subsequent rescheduling of works, no archaeological monitoring occurred during 2021. Archaeological monitoring was set to resume in early 2022, but continued from 30 November to 2 December. This tranche of the works saw drainage works installed around the north and east sides of Bonnetstown Hall. No archaeology was encountered during these works. Further monitoring works are scheduled for 2023.
