Archaeological monitoring of groundworks for the replacement Tree Top Walk development took place at Castlecomer Discovery Park, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny.
The development lies within the Zone of Notification (ZoN) for the historic town of Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny (KK005-082----). It is also adjacent to a battlefield (site) at Drumgoole (KK005-102----), and an unclassified castle (motte) in Ardra, within the Castlecomer House and Demesne, which also includes an associated outwork (KK005-033003-).
No archaeological objects, features or deposits were identified during the archaeological monitoring. All groundworks are now complete, and no further archaeological investigation or mitigation is envisaged for the project.
