Unlicenced archaeological monitoring took place of maintenance works to repair the marble floor of the Grosvenor Room (G17), on the ground floor of the north-west wing of Kilkenny Castle. A 5m-long, 2.15m-wide, 0.33m in maximum depth, trench was recorded that revealed shingle blinding over a concrete sub-floor. Nothing of archaeological significance was revealed from monitoring.
