Archaeological testing took place in advance of a development site, situated 6km north of Callan, across the road from Kilballykeefe Church and graveyard and partly located within the Zone of Archaeological Potential for RMP KK022-015001-/015002-. This site was located immediately adjacent to and west of the site of an earlier test excavation, by Coilín Ó Drisceoil (Licence: 06E0106; Excavation Bulletin No.: 2006:1045).
Work took place within the footprint of the proposed development site, consisting of a proposed house, septic tank/percolation and access road areas. A total of four archaeological linear-strip test trenches were excavated using a mechanical excavator, 1.6m in width.
Nothing of archaeological significance was revealed during testing.
