Pre-development testing was undertaken at Moortown and Kilmacredock Upper townlands, Co. Kildare. It was not possible to undertake a geophysical survey, due to dense overgrowth and evidence of recent disturbance (earthen embankments) related to motorway construction.

Archaeological testing was carried out over the course of 3 days from 19 to 21 October 2022, using a mechanical excavator fitted with a flat grading bucket. The trenches targeted open green space to fully investigate the archaeological potential of the site. Testing revealed one area of archaeological significance, which has been designated as Archaeological Area 1 (AA1).

AA1 consists of a truncated burnt spread, roughly U-shaped in plan, with maximum recorded dimensions 14.5m in length by 11m. A small sub-circular feature, filled with burnt spread material and peat, was located to the immediate southeast of the main burnt spread and is considered contemporary. The burnt spread feature recorded within AA1 was located c. 0.4m below the present ground surface.
