The archaeological testing was undertaken as a part of impact assessment in response to a planning application to construct a single storey dwelling house, a wastewater treatment unit and all associated site works at Reask, Ballyferriter, Co. Kerry. The proposed development site is partially situated within zone of notification of ringfort KE042-058. Testing took place in May 2022 in good weather conditions. A series of four linear test trenches (T1-T4) with a total meterage of c.50m were opened across the footprint of the site with a mini digger utilizing a 1.3m bucket under archaeological supervision. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the test trenches and no artefacts were recovered. Furthermore, no artefacts were recovered during the metal detection of the excavated topsoil (licence no. 22R0146).
