The archaeological monitoring was undertaken in February 2022 with regard to the replacement of a series of electrical poles by ESB Networks within the historic limits of Dingle Town KE043-224. Replacement works took place at: Green Street/Holyground, Goat Street, Main Street/Green Street and John Street/Spa Road. Excavations were carried out using a number of differing machines including: backhoe mounted on rear of tractor; JCB; mini-digger with 0.3m wide bucket. In one instance, at Main Street, normal machine excavation was suspended due to the number and direction of in situ underground services conduits whereby a specialised dry suction excavator had to be utilised. No archaeological features or artefacts were found during the monitoring.
