Licenced archaeological testing was undertaken in March 2022 in response to a planning application to construct a dwelling house with all associated ancillary services at Ballinknockane, Ballydavid, Co. Kerry. The proposed development site (PDS) partially extends within the limits of the zone of notification (ZON) of ringfort KE034-029. A series of three parallel east-west orientated test trenches (T1-T3) with a total length of c.200m was opened across the footprint of the PDS with a mini digger utilising a 1.2m wide flat grading bucket. The eastern limits of the trenches were situated within the 60m ZON of ringfort KE034-029. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the test trenches and no artefacts were recovered.
