Archaeological testing at Garrane East, Killorglin, Co. Kerry was undertaken in January 2022. Four test trenches were planned to be open across the proposed development site, however due to the overgrown nature of a section of the site the proposed Trenches T2 – T3 had to be adjusted and/or interrupted creating two smaller trenches, T5-T6 while T4 was foreshortened. All archaeological test trenches were incrementally opened with a 13-ton back-acting track machine using a 1.8m wide flat grading bucket. In all a total length c.265m of trenching was excavated. Nothing of an archaeological nature was found in the test excavations.
