Archaeological monitoring of exploratory groundworks was undertaken for the Uisce Éireann Water Network Programme (WNP) at Kingston Road (Knocknacarra Cross – Threadneedle Road) Phase 1 & 2, located in Co. Galway.
Three areas totalling 240 linear metres of the scheme's 1,526m was archaeologically monitored between 23 June and 16 December 2022. Two of the areas intersected the Zone of Notification of two Recorded Monuments/Protected Structures: a water mill – horizontal-wheeled (GA093-013/RPS 4802) and ringfort (GA094-019/RPS 4801).
No potential archaeological finds, features, or deposits were noted during the archaeological monitoring.
