Monitored resurfacing work in two places at Portumna Castle revealed very little, as earlier road surfaces were not fully removed. No remains of the medieval town were found in the few patches breaking through the road material at the Dowager House, but at the Morrison Gate the pier foundations for an earlier gate were uncovered.
