Archaeological monitoring of the demolition of the existing structure and the excavations for foundations for the new development was undertaken over a period of 5 days between 26 March and 5 April 2022. The site is located within the Zone of Notification surrounding the Historic Town GA094-100. A 19th-century stone fireplace was uncovered in the west wall of the house at first floor level and will be re-used in the new building. Three linear trenches were excavated east-west through the site to facilitate the foundations. The stratigraphy comprised of fill material overlying a peaty black silty clay with occasional shell inclusions. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were uncovered.
