Archaeological testing was carried out on 21 November 2022, using a mechanical excavator fitted with a flat grading bucket. The locations of the test trenches were designed to target the available open space and avoid the tree conservation areas, to fully investigate the archaeological potential of the proposed development area.
A total of six trenches were mechanically investigated across the proposed development area which measured c. 310 linear metres in total. The test trenches revealed that areas of the site have been heavily disturbed by past construction activity associated with the development of the Cherrywood SDZ, LUAS and M50 developments.
Nothing of archaeological significance was found during the course of testing. The investigations revealed that the area had been heavily disturbed by past construction in the nearby area.
