Archaeological testing was carried out as part of an assessment prior to he construction of a car showroom.
Testing had been carried out under licence 21E0625 in September 2021 on the adjacent site to the east, where no material of an archaeological significance had been observed.
In Phase 2 a total of c. 500 linear metres of trenches was excavated. There appeared to be significant deposits of material on the site, perhaps from the construction of a road and roundabout immediately north of the site, and a housing estate to the east, both in the recent past.
Although the trenches generally were excavated to a depth of 0.6-0.7m, no material of archaeological significance was observed during the testing.
