Archaeological monitoring of ground disturbance was undertaken between July 2021 to June 2022. The site consists of a former car park, with no current use, sitting on a slight incline, rising from south to north. Archaeological monitoring commenced after the site was stripped of the overlying tarmac and the ground disturbance began.
Monitoring efforts focused on the bulk excavation of an area measuring 50m wide by 150m long, with a depth between c. 2-3m. There was an additional trench excavated around the southern and western exterior of the site for the laying of drainage pipes (c. 100m long, 1.8m wide, and 2m deep) and another trench dug for the laying of electrical ducting along the western perimeter of the site (c. 24m long, 1.4m wide and 1.6m deep).
Concurrent with findings from previous archaeological test trenching efforts on the site (Licence No 21E0237), there were no archaeological finds of significance observed during these most recent monitoring efforts, and the area appears to have undergone significant ground disturbance in the past.
