Archaeological test trenching was carried out to study the impact, if any, on the archaeological and historical resource of a proposed development, which is located at Church Street Upper and Brunswick Street North, Dublin. The report follows on from an Architectural Heritage Impact Assessment carried out by ARC Architectural Consultants Limited in 2022.
The site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for the historic city of Dublin (DU018-20), and there are no other recorded monuments within the proposed development footprint.
Testing was carried out over the course of five days beginning on 18 July 2022. Testing of the development area confirmed archaeological remains in the form of 18th/19th-century structures throughout the Eastern area known as Block A.
