Archaeological monitoring was carried out in August 2022 at 1 The Mall, Main Street, Lucan, Co. Dublin. Site works were associated with an extension to the side of an existing building. The site is located within the historic town of Lucan (DU017-019); the building is a protected structure (RPS No. 038) and is recorded in the NIAH (No. 11201076) as being of Regional importance with a category of special interest in Architectural Artistic.
To facilitate a steel-framed extension, four foundation holes, measuring a maximum of 1.2m x 1.2m and 0.4m in depth, were excavated to the immediate east of the upstanding building. No finds or features of archaeological significance were uncovered during the course of the works.
