Archaeological monitoring was carried out in relation to the development of Oldtown Regional Park, Swords, Co. Dublin. A condition of the planning permission relates to the conservation and presentation of enclosure DU011-150 which was discovered during monitoring for an earlier phase of the development and is scheduled to be preserved in situ. Condition 5 required a plan to be submitted for approval in advance of construction at the site and archaeological monitoring of landscaping groundworks at the monument was one of the measures recommended in that report.
The methodology used in the landscaping of the monument ensured that the natural subsoil was not exposed during the works and no archaeological features, finds or deposits were exposed or disturbed. The monument has now been preserved in this open space and information signage will be erected at the site.
