Test excavation was undertaken on 23 & 24 June 2022 on lands at Stepaside, Kilgobbin, Co. Dublin, 719331, 724289 (centre of Upper site), 719583, 724263 (centre of Lower site).
The site comprised two areas, the ‘Upper’ greenfield site which is moderate in scale (c.0.68ha) and the ‘Lower’ brown field larger site (c. 1.97ha.). A metal detection device (22R0210) was used during the works. No archaeological objects were retrieved during metal detection survey.
Trenches 1-4 were in the Upper site with a combined length of 340 linear metres (680 m sq.), Trenches 5-10 were located within the Lower site with a combined length of 185 linear metres (333 sq. m).
No archaeological sites, features or objects were recorded in either the upper or lower field during test excavations.
