Archaeological monitoring of the construction groundworks for a school development on Oldcourt Road, Firhouse, Dublin 24 was carried out in fulfilment of a condition of planning permission. Monitoring took place from 25 April-30 June 2022 on an intermittent basis according to the construction schedule. A variety of mechanical excavators using both grading and toothed buckets stripped the topsoil, excavated foundation and service trenches and other ground reductions. Topsoil was generally 0.3-0.5m in depth and overlay a brown stoney clay subsoil. No features, finds or material of archaeological significance was identified during the course of monitoring and no further archaeological works are required.
