Archaeological testing was undertaken on the site of a quarry extension on 4 November 2022 The site is set within unimproved land, on top of a natural mound that undulates and has steep slopes. The soil cover consisted of dense, wet peat. The site was considered to be of low archaeological potential, with no archaeological monuments recorded within 3km.
Three test trenches, totalling 140m, were excavated across the quarry extension site. Nothing archaeological was identified in any of the test trenches.
