Archaeological testing was undertaken on the site of a proposed housing development on 14 and 15 September 2022. A total of 11 test trenches were excavated in available areas within the site (avoiding overhead and underground services, extant buildings and hardstand surfaces). The site was considered to be of low archaeological potential, with no archaeological monuments recorded within 5km. The earliest evidence for occupation of the site appears to date to the latter half of the 19th century, as evidenced on the 25-inch Ordnance Survey map (c. 1900), although some sherds of 18th-century pottery were recovered from Trench 1, which was located along the roadside. Nothing archaeological was identified during the programme of archaeological testing.
