Archaeological monitoring was carried out in the townland of Gurteenroe, Parish of Macroom and Barony of Muskerry West, Co. Cork. The lands are located to the north of Macroom town and previously in use as a pasture field.
The site is located directly adjacent to the construction project for the N22 Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Road Development.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping was required to facilitate permanent storage of topsoil at the site location, in accordance with a previously compiled AIA that formed part of the planning application.
Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered during the works.
