Eleven test trenches were excavated across the site of a proposed dwelling, partly in the Zone of Notification of ringfort CL049-035. Topsoil generally overlay natural subsoil, with some layers of mixed stone and soil and some deposits of alluvial silt that indicate that the low part of the field is prone to waterlogging. Trenching did not reveal any archaeological features, deposits or artefacts.
