Archaeological monitoring was conducted on the site of the new Corporate Services Support Building for IT Carlow/South Eastern Technical University which was located on the site of the previously demolished Carlow Union Workhouse. Monitoring was conducted to ensure the sanctity of the previously identified mass grave dating to 1847 and to inspect for the presence of further remains relating to the former use of the site. The burial pit will be preserved in situ and memorialised with signage.
