Archaeological monitoring of groundworks associated with a residential development in Browneshill Wood, Chapelstown, Co. Carlow was carried out by Fintan Walsh, Alan Healy and Zbigniew Malek of Archaeological Management Solutions (AMS) between 23 September 2021 and 10 January 2022.
The site had been continuously disturbed since the nineteenth century, initially as a quarry, then as farmland, and in recent years as a building compound.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered and no further archaeological mitigation was proposed for this development.
